How to care for your room diffuser
Creating a captivating atmosphere at home goes beyond aesthetics. It is about immersing yourself in a delightful sensory experience. Room diffusers offer a simple, elegant way to fill your home with refined scents that linger in the air.
In this guide, we walk you through the essentials of caring for your Little Paris Room Diffuser, so that you can enjoy its fragrance for as long as possible, along with all the pleasures of a beautifully scented home.
1. Choosing the right room diffuser
Choosing a fragrance that suits your taste and your space is the first step towards a welcoming atmosphere. Little Paris diffusers are made with high-quality fragrance oils and have a considered design that complements your interior.
2. Placing it well
To get the most from your room diffuser, placement is key. Position it somewhere with good airflow, such as near a door or window, so the fragrance spreads evenly through the room. Avoid direct sunlight and sources of heat, as these can speed up evaporation.
3. Essential care
A little care keeps your room diffuser performing beautifully for longer. A few tips to keep in mind:
- Clean the diffuser regularly: gently wipe the outside with a soft cloth and use a mild soap solution to clean the glass and the rattan reeds. This removes dust or residue that could affect how the fragrance diffuses.
- Turn the reeds: for a consistent fragrance, turn the reeds every 1 to 2 weeks, or as needed. This refreshes the scent in the room and keeps it releasing steadily into the air.
4. Adjusting the intensity
If you would like a stronger or softer fragrance, the intensity of your room diffuser is easy to adjust. For a stronger scent, add more reeds or turn them more often.
For a more subtle fragrance, use fewer reeds or turn them less often.
The reeds play an essential role in carrying the fragrance into the air. When you first set up your room diffuser, let the reeds soak in the fragrance oil for a few hours before turning them. We recommend leaving them for 24 hours, then turning them.
This helps the diffusion process begin.
5. Storing your room diffuser
If you need to put your room diffuser away for a while, keep it in a cool, dry place. Seal it with its original cap or an airtight stopper to stop the fragrance oil from evaporating.
Caring for your room diffuser is essential to creating an inviting, captivating atmosphere at home. By following these simple tips, your diffuser will remain a reliable source of beautiful fragrance, lifting your space and leaving a lasting impression.
Embrace the art of caring for your room diffuser and enjoy the transformative power of home fragrance to make your surroundings truly unforgettable.
Remember that a well cared for room fragrance is not only a way to scent a room, but also a source of relaxation, inspiration and personal well-being.
Enjoy the journey through captivating scents and let your home come alive with the magic of Little Paris Atelier room fragrances.
FAQ
How often should I turn the reeds?
Whenever you notice the scent fading a little, or you would like an extra burst of fragrance. As a guide, turn the reeds about once a week. Try not to turn them too often, though: the more frequently you turn them, the faster the oil will be used up.
Why can I not reuse my reeds again and again?
Over time, once the reeds are fully saturated, the fibres inside them gradually clog and lose their ability to draw the fragrance up the reed and release it into the room. So whenever you buy a new diffuser, make sure you use new reeds as well, even if it is the same fragrance.
My diffuser does not smell as strong as it used to, although there is still plenty of oil in the bottle. What can I do?
Try turning the reeds upside down. This simple change can give the diffusion process a little boost. We strongly recommend doing this over a sink or on a paper towel, especially near wood or concrete surfaces, as fragrance oil may drip from the reeds.
You can also give the bottle a very gentle swirl or two, which helps blend the ingredients of the oil and strengthen the scent.
If this does not have the desired effect and you have reached the 2 to 3 month mark, it is very likely that the fragrance oil has been absorbed and diffused, leaving behind only the diffuser base. In that case, replacing the reeds is unlikely to bring the fragrance back.
How often should I replace the reeds?
You should not need to replace the reeds during the 2 to 3 months a diffuser normally lasts, provided it has been set up and positioned correctly (that is, away from heat and direct sunlight, which can speed up diffusion and shorten the life of the diffuser). If you did not use all the reeds when you first set it up, you can try swapping some of them for fresh ones.
You can also try turning them over, which usually restarts the scenting process. If this does not work, the diffuser's surroundings may have sped up diffusion, and there may no longer be enough fragrance left to scent the room.

The story of Little Paris Atelier
Little Paris is a small atelier we started in the heart of Bucharest, where we create, with love and great care, fragrant stories with a Parisian air.
We began the Little Paris concept from a simple visit to a perfumery in St Germain, Paris, which evoked scented stories from the past.

Frequently Asked Questions
Our pack contains 8 reeds, but if you prefer a lighter scent or are using the diffuser in a small room, such as a bathroom, you can choose to use fewer reeds, for example 5, for a more delicate scent, as fewer reeds mean slower diffusion.
If you prefer a stronger scent or are using the diffuser in a large room, such as an open-plan living area, you can use all 8 reeds provided, for a stronger scent, as more reeds mean faster diffusion.
Our diffusers can last around 2-3 months, depending on the conditions they are kept in. Several factors affect the life of the diffuser and the amount of scent it releases. These include:
- The number of reeds used - fewer (4-5) for slower absorption and diffusion. More (6-8) for faster absorption and diffusion. The number of reeds depends on the size of the room and the factors below
- The airflow around your diffuser (if it is near a fan, air conditioning or an open window, the reeds will absorb the oil faster) can affect the rate at which your fragrance oil diffuses.
- Placing it in strong direct sunlight in the warmer months or near a heater will increase absorption and diffusion, due to faster evaporation.
Whenever you notice the scent fading a little, or you would like an extra burst of fragrance. You should turn the reeds about once a week. However, do not turn them too often, as the more often you turn them, the faster the oil will disperse.
You could try turning the reeds upside down. This simple repositioning can give the diffusion process a little boost. When doing this, we strongly recommend doing it over a sink or placing a paper towel underneath, especially on wood or concrete surfaces, as the fragrance oil may drip from the reeds.
You should not need to replace the reeds within the 2-3 months, which is the standard time they should last if they have been set up and positioned correctly (that is, away from heat and direct sunlight, which can speed up diffusion and shorten the life of the diffuser). If you did not use all the reeds in the initial setup, you can try replacing some of the reeds with them.
You can also try turning them over. This usually starts the scenting process again. If this does not work, the diffuser's location may have had environmental factors that sped up diffusion, and there is no longer enough scent left for the diffuser to keep scenting the room.
